LASIK, or “laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis,” is the most common laser eye surgery performed to treat nearsightedness (nearsightedness), farsightedness (farsightedness), and astigmatism.

Like other types of refractive surgery, LASIK reshapes the cornea to allow light entering the eye to be properly focused onto the retina, making vision clearer.

In most cases, laser eye surgery is painless and can be completed in about 15 minutes for both eyes. Results, including improved vision without glasses or contact lenses, can usually be seen in as little as 24 hours.

If you are not a good candidate for LASIK, other vision correction surgeries are available, such as PRK and LASEK laser eye surgery, as well as phakic intraocular lens surgery. Your eye doctor will determine if any of these procedures are appropriate for your particular condition and, if so, which technique would be best.

To be a candidate you must have:

Women – 18 years
Men – 21 years

The characteristics of laser surgery are the following:

The duration is 10 to 12 minutes.
We use topical anesthesia (drops).
Ambulatory surgery.
